St. Andrew Lutheran Church

According to the St. Andrew Lutheran Church page, the church believes in the phrase, "faith alone, grace alone, and scripture alone." St. Andrew is a Lutheran church that serves the City of Houston as a part of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.

Every Sunday, the church provides traditional worship and contemporary worship services.

The church calls itself a Christian family that preaches, teaches, and shares God's Word. It strives to give people a welcoming family atmosphere that provides fellowship.

As per its page, the church started in 1956 and has grown into one of the largest Lutheran congregations in the city.

Today, Wynn Derong leads the church as the vacancy pastor.

St. Andrew Early Childhood Center

For the church, the development of children is an important matter, and it has an Early Childhood Center that accommodates children.

The center has been serving the families of the church since 1992.

Since then, the center has grown to offer preschool, Mother's Day Out, and a full-time daycare. Also, the church's facility is fully licensed and fully equipped with a cafeteria, kitchen, and playground.

Apart from that, the church also offers after-school programs to students up to 7th grade.

The center is led by Director Shatha Razzook. The director holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education from the Mosul University of Iraq. She also has over two decades of experience as a teacher and director of a Lutheran school.

Lutheran Church Missouri Synod

As per its page, the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod calls itself a denomination that confesses to the orthodox Christian faith. The synod follows the Bible and the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther in The Book of Concord: The Confessions of the Evangelical Lutheran Church.

It also follows what it calls its seven mission priorities. These priorities include planting Lutheran churches, expanding theological education, training pastors and church workers, and childcare under the view of the church, among other things.

The synod started in 1847 through the efforts of German immigrants who wanted to establish a new Lutheran church in America.

The denomination's page said that it started with 12 pastors serving 14 congregations as the "German Evangelical Lutheran Synod of Missouri, Ohio and Other States."

It was only in 1947, the church's 100th anniversary when the denomination changed its name to what it's known today.

The church believes in the Holy Trinity of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. As a Lutheran congregation, it also believes and follows the Biblical teachings of Martin Luther and his fellow reformers.

Currently, the denomination is led by Rev. Dr. Matthew C. Harrison and a board of directors.
