Compton Heights Christian Church to host 'Open Mic Night'

Compton Heights Christian Church (CHCC) will hold an Open Mic Night on Friday, March 31, at their Fellowship Hall at 6:30 p.m.

The church’s website announced they partnered with the Isaiah 58 Ministries in St. Louis for the event.

Besides, the church would provide light snacks, as noted in the post.

City's Sanctuary

On the church's homepage, Rev. Steve Westbrook, the International Interim Minister, said CHCC is a “Sanctuary in the City.” He explained that it is an Open & and affirming Global Mission congregation. 

At CHCC, he noted that they celebrate God’s gifts of diversity and focus on programs of belongingness and justice where everyone is welcome. 

Westbrook emphasized that CHCC is a beautiful and inspiring venue for those people searching for a diverse, open-hearted, and inclusive community of individuals. He added that these people are pursuing to love and care for all.

Isaiah 58 Ministries, St. Louis

Isaiah 58 St. Louis website emphasized that they desire unity in Jesus. They are working with other churches to celebrate the human community and to serve other faiths and secular agencies.

They said they could offer programs and services by collaborating with these organizations. These efforts could meet their neighbors' and churches' physical and spiritual needs. 

In addition, Isaiah 58 could advocate opportunities for a non-denominational witness to Jesus in the inner city. They explained that it is a way to show unity in a fragmented church and society. 

Moreover, their partnership with other groups could allow them to work actively with other churches and community groups to establish a human community and ease crucial issues like hunger, poverty, racism, and inequality.

Needs of Low-income Individuals

The same website highlighted that Isaiah 58 Ministries had been a non-profit organization in South Saint Louis City since 1970. They revealed that they were formerly known as Four Church Association. 

They emphasized that the agency deals with the needs of low-income people in its community. They accomplish their mission by serving directly in their food pantry, clothing closet, and utility support. 

Moreover, as noted on the website, Isaiah 58 Ministries continuously makes incredible efforts through its various food outreach programs. They posted that they include a food pantry offering shelf-stable food. 

In addition, the website said that they hold fresh food distribution twice every week. They also give holiday food bags, as explained on the website. 

The organization serves more than 800 families, supplying them with bags of food, including turkeys and hams, during Thanksgiving and Christmas.

More than Food

Meanwhile, Isaiah 58 Ministries highlighted having a thrift store with gently used clothing items for those in need. As mentioned on the website, they conduct a Back-to-School Fair for students annually. 

As further explained, they give the student's school supplies and other items. Besides, they offer a holiday store for people to shop for toys and other family presents. 

More importantly, the organization emphasized that they continue to search for new methods to impact the lives of those they serve.
