The Rock Church of Saint Louis will hold a three-day Theater Presentation about Esther from Thursday to Saturday, March 16 to 18.

The church’s announcement mentioned that the Take Three Theater produced the show and there would be free tickets.

Take Three Christian Theater

The Take Three Christian Theater revealed on its webpage that it had received two nominations for Costume Design for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat and Esther.

In addition, they highlighted that it had been their fourth year to be invited to participate in the St. Louis High School Musical Theater Awards program and evaluations in 2020.

Story of Take Three Christian Theater

In another section, they stated that Rebeka Side, a young cast member performing with Broadway on the Driveway (BOTD), decided to pioneer the Take Three Christian Theater when the two affordable theater companies closed in 2012.

As further explained, there was a demand for affordable Christian musical theater options in St. Louis, so Side directed the 3013 with her mother, Kathy, as the producer and supportive mother.

They said that her mother attended all the Sight and Sound productions in Lancaster, PA, and was motivated by these Christian shows that they executed professionally and excellently.

Moreover, the website noted that they launched Take Three Christian Theater with its first cast of kinder to grade nine homeschoolers in 2013. They stated that Side had the opportunity to work with The Pillar Foundation, a center for high schooled homeschoolers.

According to them, since their partnership, they have grown more cast members and audiences interested in keeping “Christi-centered” and price-friendly shows for all the audience and cast members.

They noted that Side completed her bachelor’s degree major in Theater in 2019 from Missouri Baptist University, and her mother is currently studying the tradition of working with new student leaders who have the same commitment to their vision/

The website emphasized that the Take Three Christian Theater seeks to Educate, Edify, and Entertain for God’s glory.

Life of Queen Esther

Jewish Women’s Archive revealed that Esther is a young Jewish lady residing in the Persian diaspora who finds favor with the king. They explained that she became a queen and risked her life to redeem the Jewish people from the court official Haman.

As further stated, Haman persuaded the king to implement a pogrom against all the Jews in the empire.

According to them, the Book of Esther was written in the diaspora in the late Persian or early Hellenistic period or fourth-century B.C.E. They noted that it is a Jewish novella about the enduring concerns of preserving Jewish identity.

Also, the book discusses securing survival amid cultural pressures and hostile enemies in a foreign land.

Book of Esther's Highlights

The website stated that one of the features of the Book of Esther is that a woman saves her people. They explained that although Mordecai has a crucial part and ends with a high rank in the story, Esther still saved the Jews.

It noted that having a female hero plays a significant role in the story. They said that women were powerless and vulnerable members of society, as seen in the world of the Persian diaspora and other cultures.

However, Esther becomes the model for the Jew living in exile, as added on the website.
