Last June 5, the Lafayette Church of Christ conducted a special contribution for Ukrainian refugees. The church collected donations that will provide aid to Ukrainian refugees, whom Rusty and Karen Andrews are working with while they are in Greece.
Special Contribution, Help Continues
The Lafayette Church of Christ continues to send help to Ukrainian refugees.
As shared on its website, this church collected a Ukrainian Refugee Special Contribution last Sunday, June 5.
As stated on Lafayette’s, Rusty and Karen are uniquely positioned to help the refugees directly in the mission field. The Andrews worship at the Glyfada church in Athens.
This church hosts a Russian-speaking service, and Ukrainians join in the service. The Andrews work with Hellenic Ministries to help Ukrainian refugees in Athens.
All monetary donations for the Ukrainian Refugee Special Contribution will provide refugees with food, toiletries, transportation vouchers, and housing.
Lafayette Church of Christ provided four ways in which everyone can help the Andrews in their effort to uplift the spirit and condition of the Ukrainian refugees. As shared on the website, the church asked its congregation to bring their offering last Sunday.
They were instructed to write “Ukraine” in the memo line and place it in one of the offering boxes. Those who wanted to donate also had an option online.
Donations can be made online anytime until June 12. One should choose the “Ukraine” fund for their assistance. Another option was to send a text message “$XX Ukraine” to (636) 224 -0444 (no quotes and XX= the amount to give.)
Lastly, they may mail their checks within that week to Lafayette Church of Christ, 115 New Ballwin Rd, ATTN: Felicia Smith, Ballwin, MO.
Hellenic Ministries
“Restoring Hope and Dignity.”
As per its website, Hellenic Ministries offers various programs and services to help a specific group within its community. The Good Samaritan is one assistance the Hellenistic Ministries provide to those in need.
It is a social and medical center that caters to women and children who are refugees in downtown Athens. As stated in Hellenic Ministries, for asylum seekers, Greece has turned into a gateway into the European Union.
However, upon their arrival, smuggled refugees found a crippled economy and not enough or absence of infrastructure to assist with their needs for food, housing, and medical attention.
The Hellenic Ministry assists with some of these needs, especially for women and children. Its Health and Social Center consists of a medical clinic and learning center designed for refugee women and children.
