Beyond School

According to their official website under the Beyond School section, they believe that a good education is a solid basis for life. When a person graduates from high school, their future is immediately brighter. High school graduates have more job prospects, make more money, and are better problem solvers. Hope is provided through education.

It is also mentioned on the same website that Beyond School, is an AmeriCorps program, that prepares adolescents to enter high school with the social, emotional, and intellectual tools they need to succeed in high school and beyond.

The program, as per the same page has a multi-faceted approach:

  • Academic Assistance
  • Mentoring promotes social and emotional development.
  • Participation in the Community
  • Opportunities for Enrichment/Experiential Learning

It is mentioned on their official website that students who attend our program are typically 1.5-grade levels behind in reading. Their kids get social and academic assistance after class through tailored reading programs, one-on-one tutoring, and a range of enrichment sessions. Their rigorous, one-on-one coaching leads to an exponential growth of 2-3 months for every month spent in the program.

In addition to getting back on track academically, it is also stated on the same website that adolescents develop social-emotional skills and are exposed to a range of activities, widening their horizons and giving them a feeling of possibility for the future.

As per the same website, they believe that youth have much greater opportunities in life if they graduate from high school and attend college.
