St. Joseph Cottleville Parish celebrates Advent with Scenes of Nativity

As the season of Advent begins, St. Joseph Cottleville presents hundreds of Nativity scenes from all over the world on display. The church is also celebrating the 10th-anniversary event of the coming of Christ.

The Nativity, Birth of Jesus 

St. Joseph Cottleville Parish announces its fun and faith-filled family weekend – Scenes of the Nativity on display. As reported in The St. Louis Review, the church will also celebrate the 10th anniversary of this annual event. 

Scenes of the Nativity is scheduled for Dec. 4 from 12:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and Dec. 5 from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. 

This event will feature hundreds of nativities from around the globe. Attendees will enjoy the sights and sounds of the season meanwhile on Dec. 4 at 1:00 p.m. 

The After-Hours Sax Quartet will play music for everyone. There will be live music, raffle prizes, lots of fun for the kids with a Little Angels activity Area. Scavenger Hunt and taking photos of the whole family are other things to enjoy on Dec. 4 – 5. 

St. Joseph Cottleville Parish will also feature the St. Dominic High School Chamber Choir. The group will perform on Sunday. 

The church also listed Scenes of the Nativity event on its calendar. The event is free for everyone. 

Aside from the Scenes of the Nativity on Dec. 4 – 5, St. Joseph Cottleville Parish also features an Old Time Christmas Bazaar. The School Cafeteria will serve as the venue for the bazaar. 

St. Joseph Cottleville Parish

The parish has a long and rich history of 140 years. It is located at 1355 Motherhead Rd., St. Charles, MO 63304. According to Monsignor James Callahan, the current pastor, in 1988, Monsignor Whited was appointed pastor at St. Joseph Cottleville Parish. 

In 2004, Monsignor Whited left the parish. There were already 4500 families, and St. Joseph was the largest parish in the Archdiocese of St. Louis and Missouri by this time. 

Mass is celebrated daily at St. Joseph Cottleville Parish. Every Sunday, its vigil is at 5:00 p.m. and Mass at 7:30 a.m., 8:45 a.m., 10:30 a.m., and 12:15 p.m. 

Community Ministries

St. Joseph Cottleville Parish houses the Community Ministries. These ministries include Catholic Women of Faith, Hope Assistance, Respect Life, and Employment Ministry. 

As indicated on its Facebook page, the Catholic Women of Faith Ministry was established to bring women closer to Jesus as they journey through Scripture, create community, serve, and support others in all aspects of a Catholic woman’s life. 

Meanwhile, Hope Assistance provides support to those affected by chemical dependency and its other effects. 

Respect Life Ministry at St. Joseph aims to proclaim the Gospel of Life through prayer and action. The parish aspires to educate and inspire its parishioners to become actively involved in protecting life from conception to natural death. 

The ministry engages in 40 Days for Life prayer campaigns, Life Chain, Respect Life Convention, and Rosary for Life. Moreover, it also holds various fundraisers. 

St. Joseph is a member of the Catholic Employment Network of St. Louis. The church’s Employment Ministry serves its community by providing a central point of communication for employers and those in need of a job.
