Union Avenue Christian Church encouraged the congregation to answer the call to help STL Disciples for its BBQ event on Doorways. The BBQ cookout was held last Friday, June 3. Union Avenue Christian Church was requested to support this event.

Disciples BBQ at Doorways

As announced on Union Avenue Christian Church's website, its fellow STL Disciples congregations were scheduled to have a BBQ cookout on June 3. This BBQ cookout is for their friends at Doorways.

The organizers asked Union Avenue Christian Church to help with this event. According to the announcement, twice a year, STL Disciples provide a sumptuous BBQ lunch complete with sides, meats, great desserts, and generous sharing in the Spirit.

The church also recalled last year's BBQ cookout, where they had so much fun coming together again with the advent of broad COVID vaccinations and warm weather. Union Avenue Christian Church expected more food, fun, and fellowship for this year's BBQ cookout.

It provided various ways to help for the Disciples BBQ event – these include providing a dessert to share, bringing a dessert with them when they come to stay for lunch, serving food as a volunteer, and staying/talking with residents/staff from Doorways.

The Disciples BBQ event was held at Cooper House, 4835 Maryland Ave., St. Louis. Desserts come out anytime from 9 a.m. until noon.

Union Avenue Christian Church asked volunteer food servers and place setters-to-be at the venue by 11:30 a.m.

According to the church's announcement, its brothers and sisters in Christ from Centennial always do a fantastic job with the 'cue, and everyone was in for a special treat.

As stated in the announcement, the Disciples BBQ is a time not only to gather as disciples but to do what disciples do best; gather people together around a table and feast on the goodness of their shared life in God.

Union Avenue Christian Church also emphasized that this Disciples BBQ event is where precious conversations and friendships happen every year. The church hoped that all could come.
