Zion Lutheran Church partnered with Angel Tree, a program for prison fellowship, to host a Christmas party on Sunday, Dec. 10, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church's fellowship hall.

Angel Tree, Kids Party

Zion Lutheran Church encouraged all to consider giving to the Angel Tree. The church posted a video on Facebook showing more details about the program.

It asked everyone if they wanted to help connect families and the love of Jesus this Christmas. There were still a few angels on the tree in the church lobby.

Zion Lutheran Church asked for anyone who would want to donate a gift for kids through the Angel Tree. It also informed everyone that it needed volunteers for the party, where the kids would get presents.

The Angel Tree party volunteers can assist with various tasks such as helping the kids make pre-planned crafts, assisting children in games, setting up lunch and replenishing food at the pantry, and telling the story of Jesus.

Volunteers may be assigned to help at the gift table, assist at the check-in table, and organize and run the photo booth.

According to its website, Angel Tree empowers churches to strengthen relationships between parents behind bars and their kids. The organization supports these families throughout the year.

As stated on the website, it provides hope and connection in prison and out. Angel Tree extends the hope of the Gospel to families with their incarcerated loved ones. It gives gifts on behalf of parents in prison.

Additionally, it sends kids to summer camps and hosts sports camps and other activities. Through these acts of kindness, the families strengthen their connections even if their parents are in prison.

Angel Tree encourages and equips congregations to welcome Angel Tree families into church activities all year round. Thus, resulting in mutually beneficial relationships that promote growth, support, and encouragement.
