The First Lutheran Church – MIDTOWN will soon host Theology on Tap's talk titled 'Conspiracies & Satanism.'

'Conspiracies and Satanism'

As per the Eventbrite post, the church is hosting Theology on Tap's talk from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., on Tuesday, Aug. 16, at the church premises. It also said that this would be the first part of the two-part series that explores conspiracies, debunks Satanism, and the New World Order.

The talk gives the attendees a chance to see these concerns and issues in the light of Christian views. Also, it helps Christians learn how to react and, more importantly, discern between unfounded theories and evil intent.

The post also said that the event will feature Christian Elliot as the special guest speaker of the evening. After his talk, there will be a large format group discussion with a panel of pastors and professors.

As the event is by Theology on Tap, there is craft beer and food for the attendees, and the event is limited to people in their 20s and 30s.

Those looking to attend can either pre-register for $10 or walk into the event to pay the door price of S15.

First Lutheran Church – MIDTOWN

According to its page, the First Lutheran Church – MIDTOWN provides spoken word service and worship service every Sunday.

The page said that the church is a traditional and conservative congregation that provides people with a "safe place to nurture true Christianity, raise children, and equip all disciples for ministry.

The church is a part of the North American Lutheran Church or NALC.

As such, the church subscribes to the teachings of the Bible and the views of Martin Luther. These views involve the belief that humanity was forgiven when Jesus died on the cross, and that salvation and eternal life come to people who believe in Him.

Also, as Lutherans, the church believes in the Holy Trinity and the authority of the Bible. As for sacraments, the church follows the acts of Baptism and the Lord's Supper.

The church started in 1851 under the leadership of Rev. Caspar Messon Braun as the Erste Deutsche Evangelische Lutherische Kirche. The page said that this makes the church the first ever Lutheran congregation in Houston and the second in the whole state.

Today, Ptr. Evan McClanahan is the senior pastor of the church. On the church page, it said that the pastor had a Lutheran upbringing at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Shreveport.

He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music from the Centenary College of Louisiana. He is also a graduate of the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago.

Prior to joining First Lutheran, he was the Associate Pastor of the Living Word Lutheran Church in Grapevine.

Theology on Tap

According to its page, Theology on Tap is an organization that regularly gathers people of different views and beliefs all over Houston to enjoy craft beer and discuss the Christian Faith.

This method is the organization's way of providing robust Christian discussions in a productive manner that invites discourse rather than conflict.
