Lindenwood Area Senior Ministry of St. Louis is currently looking for participants for their Lindenwood Area Senior Transportation (LAST) volunteer program for this year 2022.
According to the official website of Lindenwood Area Senior Ministry under their program services section, these volunteer drivers will be in charge of the transportation of elderly people to medical appointments.
Those who are interested to be one of their volunteer drivers can simply register via the link on the same section on their website.
Lindenwood Area Senior Ministry of St. Louis
According to their official Facebook page, Lindenwood Area Senior Ministry (LASM) is a collaboration of five religious groups that offers a wide range of support services to older adult members of the partner churches as well as any senior residing in the Lindenwood Park area.
On the same Facebook page, it is also stated that their beginning started in 2006 when five churches in the Lindenwood Park area realized the rising needs of the elderly folks in their community.
Referring to the same page, they approached South Grand Senior Ministry (SGSM) with the goal of duplicating SGSM's model program in the Lindenwood community.
Following the information found on the same Facebook page, it is stated that Lindenwood Area Senior Ministry (LASM) became an autonomous institution in January 2008, following a year of consultation and the development of key programming. LASM received nonprofit status in 2009 and is happy to be a dynamic and expanding ministry.
On their official website, it is mentioned that currently, they are in partnership with Timothy Lutheran Church, Epiphany of Our Lord Catholic Church, Mount Tabor United Church of Christ, and Southwest Baptist.
Lindenwood Area Senior Ministry’s mission
According to their official website, Lindenwood Senior Ministry’s Mission works to improve the quality of life of senior persons via meaningful volunteer experiences, services, and activities that promote physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health, in accord with Christ's ministry.
In line with that, it is also stated on the same website that in order to participate in LASM, one does not need to be a member of any particular organization. The ministry assists older citizens who require assistance in remaining in their homes and participating in their community.
As per the same website, it is also mentioned that the ministry’s services and programs of LASM are available to any senior member of one of their partner churches and/or any older adult residing in the Lindenwood Park Neighborhood. Lindenwood Park's borders are as follows:
- Starting with Hampton and Arsenal
- Hampton south to Chippewa
- West on Chippewa until they reach the city boundaries.
- I-44 is located north of the municipal borders.
- I-44 east to Arsenal
- West on Arsenal Street to Hampton
As mentioned on the same website, those who desire to be a part of the senior ministry's volunteer team that does ministry work. For those who know how to use a hammer, or simply despise overgrown grass, the ministry’s Saturday Servants is a group for everyone who wants to be involved in the ministry.
As per the same site, it is also mentioned that if anyone has a reliable car and some free time, they can enter the Transportation Ministry of the organization by driving.
